The DIY option — what you can do yourself
Laying electric heating film under laminate or vinyl flooring is genuinely one of the more accessible DIY jobs in home improvement. The film unrolls, cuts with scissors (along designated cut lines only), and lies flat on the floor. The laminate clicks on top exactly as it would without the film. No special tools, no specialist knowledge.
The part that requires a professional in Spain is the electrical connection. Spanish regulations (REBT) require that any fixed electrical installation — including underfloor heating thermostats — must be connected to the consumer unit by a certified electrician. We can provide this service separately for a small additional fee.
Summary: You lay the film, we connect the electrics. This is the most cost-effective way to get professional-quality underfloor heating in Tenerife.

How to size your heating film order
The most important thing to get right is the wattage. Too low and the floor won't heat effectively; too high wastes energy. Standard guidance:
- Bedrooms and living rooms: 80–100W/m² (using 100W/m² film, covering 80–90% of floor area)
- Bathrooms: heating film is not recommended under tiles — use a heating mat instead
- Home offices and hallways: 80W/m² is typically sufficient
The floor area covered should exclude fixed furniture footprints (wardrobes, sofas) — you only heat the walkable area. Send us your room dimensions and we'll calculate the exact requirement for free.
Film brands we supply
We stock and supply several professional-grade heating film brands, all CE certified and suitable for Spanish installation standards:
- Flexel EcoFilm — excellent value, reliable performance, popular with trade installers
- Herschel Select — premium infrared film, very efficient, thin profile
- Amorflex — wide film format (ideal for open plan areas), European manufactured
Compatible flooring types
Heating film is compatible with most floating floor systems:
- Laminate — must be rated for UFH use (check packaging for symbol)
- LVT / vinyl click flooring — excellent thermal conductivity
- Engineered wood — check maximum temperature rating (usually 27°C floor surface)
- Carpet — possible with low-wattage film, but not recommended for Tenerife
Heating film is not suitable under ceramic tiles, porcelain or natural stone — use a heating mat for these applications.
