Why retile and add heating at the same time?
The most economical time to install underfloor heating is when you're already replacing the floor. Once tiles are up, adding a heating mat costs relatively little in additional labour — you're not paying twice for demolition. If you're planning to retile anyway, it makes financial sense to add heating as part of the same project.
The combined cost of retiling with heating is typically only 20–30% more than retiling without — yet the result is dramatically better. Warm tile floors in Tenerife transform the daily quality of life, particularly through the winter months.
Full retiling and heating service — what's included
- Demolition: existing tiles carefully broken up and removed
- Waste removal: all tile debris cleared and disposed of
- Substrate assessment: existing screed inspected, repaired or replaced as needed
- Waterproofing: in bathrooms and wet areas, full waterproof membrane applied to floor and lower walls
- Heating mat installation: professional electric mat laid to maximise coverage

- Grouting: flexible grout for long-term durability with temperature cycling
- Thermostat wiring and connection: complete electrical work by certified electrician
- Finishing: silicone sealing, edging profiles, cleanup
What tiles can we supply?
We can supply and lay almost any ceramic, porcelain or natural stone tile. Our standard packages include mid-range ceramic tiles (20×20cm to 60×60cm). For premium, large-format or designer tiles, we're happy to work with tiles you've selected independently or source them to specification.
Popular choices for Tenerife properties:
- Large format porcelain (60×60cm, 60×120cm): Minimises grout lines, very hygienic, modern look. Our most requested option for renovated bathrooms.
- Natural stone effect porcelain: The look of marble or travertine with the practicality of porcelain. Excellent with heating.
- Anti-slip porcelain: Essential for bathroom floors and any outdoor-adjacent areas. R10 or R11 rating recommended.
- Classic ceramic (20×20cm to 30×30cm): Traditional Canarian look, very practical, competitively priced.
Timelines — how long does retiling take?
- Small bathroom (4–6m²): 3–4 days (includes drying/curing time)
- Medium bathroom (6–10m²): 4–6 days
- Kitchen floor (10–20m²): 4–6 days
- Living room (20–40m²): 5–8 days
- Multiple rooms simultaneously: Parallel working can reduce overall timeline
The heating system must not be activated until tile adhesive has cured fully — minimum 21 days after completion. We clearly document this in our handover notes.
